Cruise ships: will I fit?

The onboard slides, coasters, and ropes courses, the tender boats that carry you ashore, and the shore excursions, each figure sourced and dated, and each one labelled with who actually owns the limit: the line, or the operator at the dock.

The restraint at the attraction, and the captain at the tender, are the only real answers. Cruise lines change ships, attractions, and excursion operators between seasons, and excursion limits are usually set by the local operator. Every figure carries its own source and date. The operator's harness or seat at the activity, and the captain at the tender, are the only real answers.

Every line hands the zip lines, parasails, snorkels
and submarines it sells to the operator at the dock.

Not one of the four publishes a weight limit for the shore excursions it sells. The number you see for a zip line or a submarine is one operator's listing at one port, not a line standard, so it travels with a plain "operator-set, varies by tour, check your listing" caveat. The lines do own their onboard attractions and their tenders, and that is where we hold them to account below.

Who publishes what

The accountability view, cruise edition. "Operator-set" means the line declines to set the limit and points you to the local tour operator. "Partial" means the line publishes some of its own onboard numbers and leaves the rest to secondary sources we have badged as such. Where a column says the line declines, that is what we found, not what we failed to check.

Line Onboard limits Tender guidance Shore excursions Asked
Royal Caribbean International Partial Yes Operator-set Not yet
Carnival Cruise Line Published Yes Operator-set Not yet
Norwegian Cruise Line Published Yes Operator-set Not yet
Princess Cruises Few (a calmer line) Yes Operator-set Not yet

Disney Cruise Line is held: we could not read its pages on Disney's own site this round, so rather than publish numbers we cannot stand behind, we are holding it until we can. No Disney figures appear anywhere on this site yet. The Asked column will fill in as we put these questions to the lines directly; silence is part of the record.

Pick your line

Source tiers work exactly as everywhere on this site: a solid badge is a figure verified on the line's own page; a dashed badge is the line's own figure recorded from an excerpt and pending our direct read; an outlined badge is a secondary source, not yet confirmed on the line's page; a dotted badge is a community report, the lowest tier. See the badge ladder.
